Spirit Dance

I would like to take part in a "Spirit Dance" and mini-silent retreat while dancing, for people who have consciously chosen to make their relationship with the divine source of their being the number one priority in life. I wish for a dance that begins with a prayer. My favorite is The Lord's Prayer as that is the mantra that was given to us by the Christ (myth or man, I do not know) for manifesting Heaven on Earth, and using it has proven to me that it will work if we work it.

I know it in Cherokee and English, and I'm about to memorize it in German and Spanish too. I envision a Spirit Dance that also includes a brief meditation, and a few minutes of chanting before the dance as well, as we have been instructed to do these things so that we may prepare our bodies to adorn a vesture of light and traverse multiple dimensions. Being able to do this seems very important to me with all the earth changes that we are experiencing.

I always wondered why introductions at Body Choir came after the dance and sharing. At Spirit Dance, I envision everyone doing a three word brief self-introduction before the dance where everyone is invited to say their NAME, ONE WORD to describe how they are FEELING, and ONE WORD stating their INTENTION for the dance. Then we would know who we are dancing with and what they are cleansing. In this manner we could better support one another via the dance, in making ourselves pure empty vessels, so the spirit may become indwelling.

At Spirit Dance, I envision everyone saying their name again after the dance, because some people will be coming in late, and the more times people say their names, the easier it will be to remember. Second time around introductions could also include ONE WORD to describe how people feel after the dance. The one word technique will help those who don't normally say anything but their name, to open up a little. After second time introductions, I envision a round of talking stick discussion, to allow those who have burning desires to say more about the dance experience. After talking stick a time for prayer requests, then announcements and close with a brief prayer and a chant.

This whole ecstatic dance thing is really causing me to examine my boundaries. On one hand, I believe it is important to be uninhibited and free with your body. On the other hand, I don't enjoy being perceived as provocative, inviting and pressured to perform because I feel free and uninhibited. If I attempt to control how people perceive me, then I have to restrict my movements, or dance alone, with only heterosexual women, or not at all. Although my dancing style is the same, nobody perceives me as sexy when I dance with only women at Nia Space. It's more like portraying a goddess giving birth to a universe.

I love watching people Tango. It is one of the most erotic dances there is. I am comfortable with couples dancing erotically together in a public venue. I would probably get bored and stop watching if they appeared to be pursuing an orgasm, however. I imagine the less sexually experienced get turned on and off much easier than those who've has lots of sex partners. So maybe erotic dancing is just an invitation for those who have been repressing their sexuality to spew essence everywhere. I'm not sure where all of this is going. I'm just hoping it might be possible to create a safer and more spiritual dance community by intention.
