Spirit Dance
Spirit Dancer By GayleM on 11/6/2008 8:16 AM
I would like to take part in a "Spirit Dance"  and mini-silent retreat while dancing, for people who have consciously chosen to make their relationship with the divine source of their being the number one priority in life. I wish for a dance that begins with a prayer. My favorite is The Lord's Prayer as that is the mantra that was given to us by the Christ (myth or man, I do not know) for manifesting Heaven on Earth, and using it has proven to me that it will work if we work it.

I know it in Cherokee and English, and I'm about to memorize it in German and Spanish too. I envision a Spirit Dance that also includes a brief meditation, and a few minutes of chanting before the dance as well, as we have been instructed to do these things so that we may prepare our bodies to adorn a vesture of light and traverse multiple dimensions. Being able to do this seems very important to me with all the earth changes that we are experiencing.

Bardo
Dance Soup By Rebecca Farr on 11/3/2008 5:34 PM

How to describe this time... being with my father in the bardo of dying.

I've been going to see him every week for the past three months or so. This is in contrast with having NOT gone to see him for the past 20 years or so, other than running into him at family gatherings at my brother's house six or seven times during that 20 years.  It seemed like my turn, events conspired and all that...

Strings Attached
Dance Soup By Rebecca Farr on 10/24/2008 4:15 PM

It is like living in two worlds.

I guess for most people there is some duality... between work life and home life ... real life and vacation life ... school life and between semesters life ... dance life and everything else life ...

For me, there has always be ...

The Big Dance
Dance Soup By Rebecca Farr on 8/30/2008 1:14 PM

For the past three-ish years, I’ve been really enjoying the Big Dance.

Before that, I had a lot of fear in the dance at Body Choir, not understanding if somebody bumped into me, not knowing how to keep my boundaries in all circumstances, things like that. Back then I preferred the small dances. I confess I still feel most comfortable at Body Choir on Monday or Friday nights when the dance is smaller.

But there is just something about the Sunday morning dance and some of the really crowded Wednesday night dances... the energy of ninety or so other dancers all moving at once, all supported by the same music and the energy of self and others, all of that bl ...

Board Running
Dance Soup By Rebecca Farr on 7/17/2008 10:17 PM
I keep thinking of topics to write about for my new blog.  But it seems like I need to push them all back for now and write something about running for Body Choir Board of Directors.

First, I would say that the more you put into something the more you get out and I find that lately my dance is enriched and deeper than it has been for a while.  Thinking about why...

The more days of the week I dance, the more of a practice the dance becomes.  The more of a practice, as in daily practice, it is, the deeper I am able to go with it both physically and mentally.  In the rest of my life, inner chatter is diminished and I have more moments of feeling peaceful and content.  I become embodied more often and I feel better in general.< ...

Shared Center of Gravity
Dance Soup By Rebecca Farr on 7/11/2008 4:41 PM

Shared Center of Gravity

This week I've started to notice gravity pulling on me more than usual....  I think it started at the Tuesday night CI jam dancing with Fritz Blaw of Motorblade fame.

Somehow the shared center of gravity thing worked for me and I was finally able to have a sense of myself as the combined entity with four legs, four arms, two he ...

Expansion and Contraction
Dance Soup By Rebecca Farr on 7/9/2008 12:15 PM

As so often happens, Dunya’s words seem spoken just for me. I am surprised again after all these years… How does she do that?

I am in a period of contraction now in my life, feeling squeezed from all sides. Reading this post (Dunya’s blog post on ‘Journal Crafting & Expansion’) gave me some space inside and I was able to take a deep breath and find some peace in remembering… hey, I’ve been here before and I remember it and I also remember how good the expansion feels. So I need to just be with my discomfort for a little while. I long for the expansion phase, but I will wait for it.
